Section 107 of the Copyright Act now encompasses a codification of the fair use defense. The fair use theory, long upheld by the courts, is meant to be carried forth by legislative articulation. According to the law, it is not a copyright infringement when a work is used fairly "for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use, scholarship, or investigation)
